The Law of 24 Hours Can Change Your Life

There is a simple principle I want to share with you, and it can change your life. It works in every area. If you want to learn a new skill, if you want a better walk with God, if you want a better relationship, this applies.

I call it the law of 24 hours.

It is a pattern I noticed in Scripture. God has placed a system in nature that has to do with 24 hours. He set things up so that anything that is going to be effective and productive has to be repeated over the span of a day. Let me show you where I see it in the Bible, and then how you can put it to work.

It Started at Creation

Look at the very beginning:

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day" (Genesis 1:3–5, KJV).

When God made the heavens and the earth, He made the night and the day, and together they made one full day. Notice the order. We usually think of a day as morning to night, but Scripture says the evening and the morning. The day begins in the night and continues into the morning, and the cycle goes on like that.

The whole earth has been running on that principle ever since. It is not always exactly 24 hours, but it is the principle of the full day. Plants grow in the space of night and day. Seasons are counted by night and day. That is simply how God made the earth.

Manna Came One Day at a Time

Now go to Exodus 16. This is the only time God rained food down on people:

"Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no" (Exodus 16:4, KJV).

What is instructive is the law God attached to it. Whatever the people were going to eat for a day had to be gathered from the field on that day, for that day. They were not meant to store extra for another day. And when some tried, it did not keep:

"And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank" (Exodus 16:19–20, KJV).

The blessing for that day was in that day, and it had to be taken in that day. That tells me there is a system that repeats itself every 24 hours. There is a reset. A whole day is almost like a lifetime of its own. There is a fullness in a day.

And God kept that rhythm going for a long time: "And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years" (Exodus 16:35, KJV). Forty years, one day at a time.

Daily Bread and Daily Benefits

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9–13, one of the things He told them to ask for was this: "Give us this day our daily bread" (Matthew 6:11, KJV).

There is a bread coming from God daily. Scripture says it again in the Psalms: "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation" (Psalm 68:19, KJV).

So there is a secret in 24 hours that we have to take advantage of.

Jesus lived this way Himself. The Bible says He would rise before dawn to pray: "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed" (Mark 1:35, KJV). It was a habit. It was something He did daily.

Even your body knows this law. It gets hungry every day. Yes, a person can survive some days without food, but those are exceptions. The basic principle is that the body wants to be refilled every day.

Build Something You Repeat Every Day

Here is where it becomes practical. If you are going to make progress in any area of your life, you have to create habits or activities you carry out every 24 hours, and repeat them over and over. That is how you fast-track progress in that area, because the God who made the earth follows that principle Himself.

So what do you want to change?

Your marriage. Maybe your spouse has been complaining that you don't give them time. Make a simple plan: "I will dedicate 10 minutes, or 30 minutes, or an hour every day to listen and have real conversation with my spouse." When you make it a rule of 24 hours, it will change your life. Be deliberate about it. A full day is a life, and a full day repeated over a week, a month and a year becomes your life.

Your walk with God. If you want a better relationship with God, it has to be a daily thing. Speak with the Holy Spirit. Pray every day. Build a system that keeps it consistent. It is not, "I'll pray for 20 hours today, then not again for a month, then another 20 hours." There has to be a repeatable system, because God Himself made repeatable systems. The sun rises, the light comes, the night falls, and it keeps repeating. That is what has kept the earth productive for thousands of years.

A new skill. Whether it is graphic design, UX, programming or social media management, decide what you will do about it every day, no matter how tiny. Even five minutes. You will see the progress. The people who are best at what they do are people who practise daily, whether a lot or a little.

Every Day Comes With a Reset

There is something else in this law. Every 24 hours brings a reset.

You may have an idea today and you are so pumped about it. "I can't wait for tomorrow. This is a killer idea." Then you go to bed, wake up, and see it differently: "No, this isn't going to work." Some knowledge has welled up from your spirit overnight, and you see a different direction.

That reset is not negative. It is for a blessing. There is a new blessing for every day, and every 24 hours is unique. In nature it looks like the same thing over and over: the same sun, the same routine. But it is not the same. Even the temperature changes. Each day comes with something that makes it different.

Scripture says this about the hard side too: "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" (Matthew 6:34, KJV). Each day carries its own weight. That is why we are told, "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise" (Ephesians 5:15, KJV). We take every day seriously.

What to Do With This Today

Here is a simple way to start:

  1. Pick one area. Your walk with God, your marriage, your health or a skill. Choose the one where you most want to see change.
  2. Make it small and daily. Five minutes of practice. Thirty minutes of conversation. A set time to pray and talk with the Holy Spirit. Small enough that you can do it every single day.
  3. Gather today's manna today. Don't try to make up for a missed week with one long session. The blessing for today is in today.
  4. Welcome the reset. When you wake up seeing things differently, don't fight it. Bring it to God. Every day has its own fresh blessing.
  5. Repeat. Tomorrow, do it again. A full day repeated over a week, a month and a year becomes a changed life.

The God who made the evening and the morning has built a rhythm into everything. Line your life up with it. Whatever you want to grow in, find something you can do about it every 24 hours, and watch what He does with your days.

Your worldview controls the decisions you make. It shapes how you think, what you believe about money, how you manage your health, and the opinions you hold about almost every subject in life. Everyone has one. Every person living on this planet carries a worldview, whether they use that word or not. Some people treat it like a distant philosophy, something that belongs only in books or debates. But the truth is simpler than that. When you walk into a mall or a marketplace and choose one...

Christianity is not just about knowing the Bible. It's about living the life the Bible describes. It's about reflecting the truth of God's Word in every area of our lives, in everything we do. That has always been God's design. He showed it by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live right here on earth. Jesus walked, travelled, ate, worked and did everything a normal human being does. And in doing so, He showed us how to live. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us" (John 1:14)....

When Adam bowed to disobedience in the garden, something deeper than a bad decision took place. His nature became corrupt. The life God had breathed into him was no longer what it was meant to be. And because of that corrupt nature, man lost the power to live righteously. Sin became his lord. He became a slave — not only to sin itself, but to everything that comes with it: pain, lack, sickness, death and every negative thing you can think of. Those are the results of sin. And because of them,...
